Jet ski - Bruno Jacob - Featured Profile

If you have the need for speed and pushing yourself to the limits then you will have an instant connection with Bruno (Bruno from Brazil) who is the vice-world champion IFWA 2016 in Jet ski Freeriding.

He has spent years training and now is the strongest representative from Brazil in the freeride category. He is a huge advocate for the sport and tries to get as many people interested in it by not only competing but also selling quality, affordable jet ski products of his own.

Sport runs through Bruno’s veins, that’s how he was born. Besides being on the jet ski he also does wakeboarding, surfing, going to the gym and stand-up paddling.  So without further a due let’s jump into the questions and learn more about this exceptional individual.

How old are you?

I’m 30 years old

Where were you born?

I was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil

Where do you live now?

Salvador, Bahia, Brazil

Bruno Jacob Jet ski

What outdoor activity do you do? Let us know a bit about it

I’m a professional jet ski Freerider or otherwise known as a motosurfer.

The freeride category on the jet ski began fifteen years ago. Basically, it’s a mixture of freestyle and jet ski surfing. Riders have to devise aerial maneuvers, such as backflips and use the waves as if they were ramps. The jet ski is like the bike or a board. The judges evaluate the difficulty and how precise someone is in a variety of maneuvers.

I started because my father loves motorsports and really pushed me into a few motorsports. When I got a chance to try out jet skiing I was hooked from the start.

Additionally, besides my father, my whole entire family have supported me along the way.

How did you get into the sport?

My father always loved motorsports and when I was 10 he put me into a go-kart. Unfortunately, at the time it didn’t work out very well. When I turned 15 my dad organized a Jet ski competition in my town which sparked my interest.

Not long after I got a jet ski as a gift and started practicing. In my first Bahian Championship, I came sixth overall. The following year, I went to the Brazilian and got second place amongst the “Rookies”.

I realized I had a talent and after that, I was hooked. I migrated to Freeriding which is the fastest growing category and since then I have won a few international titles.

All the trips are very important to me. Especially when I have fun with my friends around the world.

Bruno Jacob Jet ski

My favorite trick is the Scarecrow, that is a roll with the jet ski while not holding onto the bars with your hand’s and having one leg off and extended as well

My favorite gear is Fly Racing

My favorite location is Brazil. I train in Barra do Jacuípe, in the city of Camaçari, in Bahia.

In this town, there is a marina, where we also have a shop, in which we manufacture and sell jet-hulls, and have a jet ski school.

I’m the vice-world champion IFWA 2016. Additionally to that in my first year, I was runner-up “Rookie” in Brazil which in made me realize I had quite the talent in the sport.

All the trips are very important to me. Especially when I have fun with my friends around the world.

What are you striving towards in the future?

I wanna see that sport grow and grow more everywhere!

He might not have gotten into Go-karting but fortunately, he found his calling in Jet skiing where obviously he is excelling. We wish Bruno a bright future in the sport and if you are interested in connecting more with Bruno check out his pages below.

Toddlers that Shred up the Slopes

In most instances they might be annoying, slowly making their way down the mountains, obstructing everyone and crying when they fall over but there is something really cute about toddlers that strap on a set of ski’s and shred up the mountain.

Here is a look at some of the toddlers that start their skiing and snowboarding journeys early. Who knows with such an early start they might one day make it into the big leagues.

With dreams of snowboarding since I was a young lad, I am kind of envious of these young individuals who have gotten the chance to be pretty much born into it.

Not only is it a great sport, but in my opinion, it’s a great way for families to connect. Teaching the kids new tricks, letting them go crazy in the snow and giving them the necessary skills in snowboarding and skiing to become champions when they grow up.

Nice work to the parents for putting up with what I can imagine was hours of tears from the many knocks that the kids would have suffered.

But I think that there is one thing for sure. There is nothing worse than seeing a toddler shred better than yourself. Especially if you have put in the hard yards and got flogged a ton in the meantime.

What are your thoughts? are you a fan of children snowboarding past you like little pro’s? Have you got a child of your own that you would like to show off with?

Virtual Reality Allows Man To Go Skiing For The First Time In 32 Years. His reaction is really moving

Let’s not lie to ourselves, Virtual Reality (vr) is exciting and the moment you place the goggles on to your head you get transported to a new dimension.

For me, this is something I do for leisure but I never took into account other people and how they viewed it until now. The power of VR really comes through in the video below.

Gadda who suffers from cerebral palsy hasn’t hit up the slopes in over 30 years. What he considered fun back when he was 15 now was physically impossible for him to do.

But in today’s day and age, his condition doesn’t necessarily have to prevent him from letting his mind escape into a different reality.

By putting on the goggles he was able to not only skii but go to the burning man festival and immerse himself in experience.

Vr helps man skii again after 32 yearsThis made me think of all other possible ways this technology can be used.

Obviously for disabled people, but also for elderly who are in retirement homes, or are confined to beds.

It could be used in classrooms for new ways to teach children so that they can interact with their surroundings.

I mean the possibilities are endless and best of all as time progresses the experiences will be even more realistic.

What are your thoughts on VR? Have you had the opportunity to use them in the past? What was your experience like? comment below and also make sure to share this page with other.

Thomas Feurstein (Snowboarder) - Featured Profile

Today I have the pleasure of interviewing someone who absolutely shreds in a sport that I  love. This person is Thomas Feurstein otherwise known as Fuego and the sport is Snowboarding.

On top of that, he is a Professional stuntman who during his downtime engages in Skate-& Longboarding, Mountain-& Downhill biking, Hiking, Climbing. Real chill dude and has some great tips for beginners in the sport.

Tell us about yourself

In the year of 1991 I was born in Schruns (Montafon). Montafon is located in the snowy Austrian Alps, it was great to grow up here and I still enjoy living here. It‘s a natural playground for nature-loving adrenalin junkies.

After finishing at a business school in Bludenz I was ready to live my life as a professional snowboarder – since then my snowboard is always with me. Only in summertime does my board get a short rest.

I am using the snowless months to prepare and organize ideas for the winter and perform different stunts for tv and commercials.

What outdoor activity do you do?

Snowboarding, Skate-& Longboarding, Mountain-& Downhill biking, Hiking, Climbing

What’s your favorite trick?

Bs Air and Fs 360

What’s your favorite location and why?

Definitely Silvretta Montafon. I just really like the steep and easily accessible backcountry there and the gondola is only three walking minutes away from my home – that’s a big plus as well 🙂

What’s your most memorable moment?

The last few years snowboarding gave me so many good memories and positive feelings – hard to tell which one was the best, I was definitely hyped at those moments:

– 2nd place at my first Freeride World Tour contest

– Finishing my video project „Catch me if you can“ with a jump in a moving chairlift

– Riding straight out of a little avalanche

– Every time when fresh snow is coming

If someone would be interested in doing your sport, what would you recommend for them to do to get the most out of it?

Have fun while riding

stay motivated and just ride as much as you can! In the summertime, I would recommend doing some boardsports as well, for example, Skate/Longboarding, Surfing, Wakeboarding…

Snowboarding can be super exhausting, to keep your energy level high I recommend a good sleep the day before and healthy Vegan diet all year.

Anything else you would like to add?

Keep the mountains clean and enjoy riding 🙂 - Thomas Feustein (Fuego) #mendooutdoors #snowboarding #men Click To Tweet

Become a legendary bushcrafts man using these simple tips

During my time in the outdoors as an outdoor instructor I taught kids the basics they required to be able to survive in the bush. It gave me plenty of joy and reminded me of the first time when I lit up a fire using a simple flint.

The moment you ignite a fire is one of the biggest achievements you can have and makes you realize how life has become so complicated when everything you really need is already provided for us by nature.

So let’s wind back a few things, to the days where hanging out in the bush was how we survived and all we cared about was our next meal, shelter and most importantly staying warm.

Let’s focus on a little bit of bushcraft that is so rewarding and yet everyone can pick it up.

Here are the top things you need to learn that will make your next trip into the bush amazing.

Starting fires

Bushcraft Skills - Starting a fire
offthegridnews.com

Starting a fire is one of the best things you can do when going out into the bush, you are able to cook your food, boil some water, protect yourself from predators and also build up morale with it. Sometimes though it is really difficult to start a fire. One thing you can do before going out into the bush is to learn and familiarise yourself with what kind of tinder is best for igniting fires.

Additionally, you could take a few basic fire starters with you, here is a list I prepared earlier. 7 fire starters that will turn you in to a fire God at your next camp

Before you start a fire make sure you keep yourself and others safe. Clear an area around and above the fire so as to make sure it doesn’t spread out of control. If you have ignitable substances, make sure to keep them a few meters away for added security.

Finally, make sure there aren’t any trip hazards around the fire which could cause someone to trip and stumble into the fire. When you are out in the bush the nearest hospital could be hours away.

Collecting and filtrating water

Bushcraft skill - Filtrating water
adventure.howstuffworks.com

Most of us know that you can collect water from a river, lake, dam, and stream but did you know that in many instances drinking water from said sources can cause you to get ill. One of the worst things while being out in the bush is to get d’s and v’s (diarrhea and vomit). It could not only be dangerous to your health but also cause you to have to cancel your trip a lot sooner.

It is always important to filter the water before drinking.

A simple way to do that is by using what this planet has way to much of. Plastic bags. Fill it with layers of rocks, sand, and charcoal (which you can get after you made your fire) and let the water filter through the layers.

This will remove most of the nasty pathogens which can make you sick and also, it’s a great and simple project you can create as you are setting up your shelter.

Walking on a BearingLearn to navigate

Navigation is one of my favorite things while in the outdoors. In my opinion, it’s the key which opens up the whole world to you.

With a simple map and compass you can get into the most remote places, and when you do, it is such a sense of pride and achievement that it can really make you feel inhuman.

There are plenty of video’s on youtube which can teach you the basic’s but the only way you can really learn is to practice.

Even professional navigators can get it wrong at time’s, that is why you need to practice over and over in different terrains.

For a few advanced navigation techniques click here

Bushcraft Skills - Basic Shelters
pinterest.com.au

Learn to build simple shelters

After a day of collecting food, water and navigating it is amazing to get back to a shelter sit by the fire and eat and drink the spoils of your day. Best of all you don’t have to make anything fancy at first, but in saying that you have all the materials you could possibly need all around you in the bush.

Use timber for structure and the frame.

Use leaves, twigs, sticks and other ground foliage as thatching for your roof and bedding.

Use stones as a way to isolate your fire from the surroundings. Additionally, you can make cutting utensils with rocks

Make rope out of fibrous materials you have at hand. For example, grass, bark fiber, and palm fibers.

Stay Positive

Sometimes you might get hungry, other times the shelter you might build can fall apart, then the fire won’t start. This is all part of learning curve. As time progresses you will begin to get better and better at the simple tasks and in no time you will be able to do more challenging bushcrafting.

Till then make sure you stay high spirited and focus on the beauty of being out in nature, disconnected from technology and enjoying what this planet has to offer.

Have you done any bushcrafting? What was your favorite experience? Let us know in the comments below and as always make sure to share this article so others can get inspired to be outdoors.

Seriously though, learn to find natural sources of tinder for whatever areas you will be in.

Learn the difference between hard and soft woods.

Learn how to collect water through various means, and how to filter it.

Learn to recognize game trails, and how to construct traps and snares.

Learn how to construct basic shelters, and which ones to use in different areas/climates.

Learn to navigate.

Learn to start a fire with various methods.

Learn edible plants and berries, and how to differentiate between poisonous ones.

Learn to make rope or cordage from available sources.

Learn to go to bed hungry, and to keep a positive attitude.

Men, How Spending Time Outdoors Could Give You Longer Lasting and Harder Erections!

For many men, the word impotence is a word that no one should speak of and one of the biggest punches to an ego is getting it on with a hot partner, being super turned on and waving around a flaccid sausage.

It’s frustrating to the guy, but at the same time, it is a pretty big downer for the partner who was expecting a decent poking. But once again mother nature is out to the rescue and with 15-30 min a day it can in many ways help you out.

How the Outdoors can give you a longer lasting and harder erection
meatprocessingproducts.com

So let’s get the most obvious out of the way, there are many factors that can determine why you (not necessarily you) have erection problems.

Ranging from stress, Heart disease, and narrowing of blood vessels, Diabetes, High blood pressure, High cholesterol, Obesity and metabolic syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple sclerosis, Hormonal disorders including thyroid conditions and testosterone deficiency (hypogonadism), a Structural or anatomical disorder of the penis, such as Peyronie disease, Smoking, alcoholism, and substance abuse, including cocaine use, Treatments for prostate disease, Surgical complications, Injuries in the pelvic area or spinal cord, Radiation therapy to the pelvic region.

I mean considering all the reasons why men might have problems getting it hard, it’s a miracle we actually do at times.

But this post isn’t about the miracle of having an erection, this post is about how simply going outdoors can help you out if you do sometimes feel a little gelatinous.

First of all, if you live with a lot of stress then going outdoors will really help alleviate it and calm your mind. It’s surprising how a weekend out in the wilderness can really ground you.

With the busy lifestyle that we have these days, we forget that for thousands of years our ancestors lived in the wilderness and like other animals, they built a somewhat connection with it. We are technically disconnecting from nature and that in itself is having so many implications within our lives.

Another thing is that when being outdoors you are more likely to get a very important vitamin from the sun.

Vitamin D for your D So that you can give out more D #mendooutdoors #men #erection #outdoors Click To Tweet

Vitamin D from the outdoors
popkey.co

That is correct, a vital vitamin to help out with erections is vitamin D and unlike many other vitamins, it is actually very difficult to get it from the foods we eat. Just like plants we absorb the vitamin D directly from the sun and use it within our body for many of the most important functions.

With people spending more and more time indoors there happens to be a huge deficiency for it. Especially now that winter is upon us you are more likely to find it affecting you now.

So if you are finding yourself in a situation where you get embarrassed flaunting around a semi, try simply standing out in the sun for 15-30 min a day.

If that is not possible then look at ingesting the few foods that do have vitamin D:

  • Fatty fish, like tuna, mackerel, and salmon.

  • Foods fortified with vitamin D, like some dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals.

  • Beef Liver.

  • Cheese.

  • Egg yolks

  • Tofu

  • Mushrooms (hold them in the sun for 15-20 seconds to give them a vitamin D boost. No like seriously, it actually works)

    Source: Webmd

Now, this could work for you, but don’t just rely on the sun to get you back into action, test out different things and sooner or later you might find out what the problem is.

Till then share and tag a mate that needs this in their life. Who knows, it will either embarrass them or give them the tool they require to go from a soft to a hard cone in no time.

The Noisy Drone Demise Compilation Video We Have All Been Waiting For

What’s better than watching a drone take some amazing footage? A drone crashing and recording the crash at the same time.

Now that is some footage that I can definitely get behind.

drone fails MonkeyAs drones become more and more popular and everyone seems to be on the bandwagon to get one (including me) there is a growing amount of drone crash footage appearing online.

Being someone that has crashed multiple times and even lost one of my drones I sympathize with everyone who goes through the ordeal. It is definitely painful and it ruins your day, or as in my case my holiday.

The thrill of flying a drone is fun, and looking through the screen to see the world from a whole new perspective is literally mind blowing.

In saying that I also find that the crash footage is actually amazing and can be more interesting than the flight themselves. So here is a video I came across which has a compilation of the best drone fails at the moment.

Do you have a drone? have you crashed it? Did your heart race 1000miles/hr when it happened. Let me know in the comments below and if you have the footage of your drone crashing make sure to insert a link to it.

Additionally, make sure to share this post so other’s can get a bit of enjoyment of watching the noisy hover camera’s get faced with what in most cases seems like their demise.

Skiing Facts That Will Tickle Even The Fussiest Persons Fancy

Skiing is the most recognizable winter sport hands down. It’s been around for quite some time and makes up the majority of all winter sports enthusiasts.

Seeing as it is such a massive sport, there ought to be some juicy juicy facts that will get everyone excited. So here I provide you with an arsenal of amazing facts that will tickle even the fussiest persons fancy.

Skiing outdoor sports
thoughtco.com

1. Ski comes from the Norwegian work ‘skíð’ which means split piece of wood.

Now when your so-so and you end up accidentally splitting wood, in your moments of agony you can technically yell out ‘SKIIIIIIII’

2. The first recorded downhill skiing race was held in Sweden, in 1879

Alpine skiing as a sport made its Winter Olympic debut in the year 1936

3. Skiing is one of the fastest non-motorized sports on land.

Ever been a car driving at 156.2 miles per hour??? Probably not for most of us here but if you did you would be rivaling the speed of Simone Origone who was absolutely smashing it downhill in 2006

4.‘Skiing’ is the only six-letter word in the English language with a double ‘i’ exactly in the middle

Checked this fact out and it’s actually incorrect, never the less you can still get your less knowledgeable buddies with this one. The other word is ‘obiism’

5. Norway or China, where did it all begin

Skiing Outdoor Sport
visitscotland.com

Most people will say skiing started in Norway, after all, there are carvings depicting skiing dating back as far as 4000BC, but supposedly some people by the name of archeologists have also discovered a form of skiing near Lake Sindor in Russia. Now supposedly they found a part of a wooden ski here that dated back to approximately 8,000 years ago.

In Xinjiang province of China, they still make skis by splitting spruce trees and wrapping them in dried horse skins, which they use to climb slopes as well as slide down them. The major difference is that they use only one pole instead of 2.

6. You can lose weight skiing

If you like to drink a beer or 2 and find yourself getting a bit of a belly from it, then it is good to know that you can actually drop some weight off while doing a few up and downs of the mountain. In fact, you can lose 350-400 calories per hour with a moderate effort.

Now that is music to the ears, sliding down a mountain and losing weight.

7. Skiing is very Popular

Approximately 350 million skiers can be found on the mountains in 80 countries around the world each and every single season.

8. I prefer Snowboarding

It’s my opinion and after trying both I think that I will stick with snowboarding. On that note, check out 7.4 amazing snowboarding facts

Skiing Facts That Will Tickle Even The Fussiest Persons Fancy

Nicander (Bushcraft) - Featured Profile

It’s not very often that I get to meet someone as passionate about the outdoors as Nicander. A man specializing in Bushcraft who is oozing with the dream to learn and explore as much as he possibly can from nature itself.

On his journey, he has shared his learning’s and passion. You can see them in the numerous video’s he has on his Youtube channels and pictures he shares on Instagram.

He is very generous with his information and even in this interview, you can tell he wasn’t really holding back. So without further a due let’s jump right into the questions.

Tell us a little about yourself:

Hi, I’m Nicander, on social media Bushcraft Nic. I love to be outdoors and live as primitive as I can. I love to explore nature and see, feel and taste all it has to offer. Loving every season, especially autumn and winter. I love to challenge myself to practice bushcraft techniques in the hardest conditions. It feeds my creativity and boosts my energy. I learn the most when I challenge myself!

What’s your age:

Nicander (bushcraft) - Mendooutdoors Featured Profile

31

Where were you born?

I was born in the Netherlands

What Outdoor Activity do you do?

I love several outdoor activities. These are most of all Bushcraft (kind of survival), cycling to far places, snowboarding and searching for food in the wild.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My greatest inspiration is Ray Mears.

His series might be slow to some people but I can’t imagine another show which has taught me so many skills as he did! And I admire his way of coöperating with nature instead of fighting against it!

What inspired you to take up?

When a colleague asked me to come along with a mid-winter-bivouac, I went along. It was a quite impulsive action to join him in a bivouac with outdoor temperatures of -5,8F°/ -21C° but it turned out to be the best decision ever!

As soon as we arrived in the snowy and cold forest we had to work to keep ourselves warm. I quickly learned some basic bushcraft and survival skills like ‘leave no trace’, the easiest knots to tie and to untie (very important), how to make a fire with a firesteel and stuff like camp-hygiene and camp-order.

I loved to experience the forest in this way, I suddenly saw opportunities for usage of simple materials in everything around me. Besides that, experiencing the fresh air, the temperature, sounds, and smells. This got even better because we did not sleep in a tent but under a tarp in the open air.

Unfortunately, all this stood out to the quality of my gear. My sleeping bag was made for 32-50°F/ 0-10°C, in extreme cases it could be used till 14°F/ -10°C.

Additionally, my mat was not prepared for these temperatures so sleeping was not the case. It was a night of shivering, twisting and turning till I was sick of it at 5 AM and decided there should be a fire started real soon!

I took a firesteel and collected some bark to spark on. With the skills, I learned the night before I started to flint while the others were still sleeping.

“YES!!!” Success at the 3rd strike! The bark started to burn and small wood could be added to the fire.

The warmth of the fire slowly started to win over from the cold frozen air and my cold body started to revive. It felt so intense to be able to create warmth with such a small amount of effort and natural resources which are provided everywhere in nature.

This moment changed my life! I wanted to do this as much as possible. My passion for bushcraft had begun.

Next spring I’ve bought some gear (which is sold everywhere in all price ranges) and started enjoying nature from this new point of perspective.

Since then I’m hooked!

When did you take up?

How often do you participate in the activity?

Every month several days

What’s your favorite trick?

I love to make fire from a spark. Even better when it is fully raining! It is so beautiful to focus on the just started flame and to nourish it till it is strong and warming you up.

What’s your favorite gear?

I have a lot of favorite gear.

From the section ‘DIY’ it will be my self-made bucksaw.

From the section ‘bought material,’ it will be my Fjällräven Kajka backpack which is really bad-ass good with all its functionalities and I do also love my Gransforsk small forest axe. It has a perfect weight and size to fit in the backpack, still a good size to cut trees and it remains sharp forever before it has to be sharpened again.

What are you striving towards in the future?

I would love to join the upcoming Fjällräven Polar expedition (where I still need votes for). And in the future, I would love to do courses for people to connect with nature. Hopefully creating awareness of the beauty but also vulnerability.

Make sure to support him  by voting for him here http://polar.fjallraven.com/contestant/?id=59&backpage=1&order=popular

It will only take a minute but will mean so much to him.

If someone would be interested in doing bushcraft, what would you recommend they do?

Start a fire with a fire steel on birchbark.

This young man is 100% in line with what Men Do Outdoors is out to promote. The incredible playground we have at our doorstep. Nature, and that is why he was selected as Mendooutdoors Featured Profile. Make sure to follow him on his journey and vote for him so that he can continue his journey on the upcoming Fjällräven Polar expedition.

7.4 Super Interesting Snowboarding Facts That Will Impress Your Entire Crew

Winter is coming and there is only one thing better than hitting up the slopes with your trusty board, crew and of course the fresh pow.

That thing is beer and funny but interesting facts about the sport that you and your buddies admire. Chow down on these gems and surprise even your most knowledgeable snowboarding buddy.

1. ONE. Snowboarding was called Snurfing

Snurfing - Fun Facts about Snowboarding
whitelines.com

You read that right. Snowboarding was invented in 1960 by an engineer living in Muskegon, Michigan who went by the name of Sherman Poppen. He strapped two ski’s together and used rope for steering.

Needless to say, the fellow looked like he was surfing and so the wife blessed the act with the name Snurfing which combined the words ‘Snow’ and ‘Surfing’.

2. DUO. Snowboarding is more dangerous than Skiing

Kinda an obvious one, seeing as snowboarders are usually demographically a younger bunch of people I’m not really surprised by this.

Is Skiing or Snowboarding Safer
facts.net

Young, dumb and full of c.. (beer) makes for a perfect mixture of pushing one’s self to the limits and obviously showing off.

One thing to take into consideration though is that the majority of the injuries are to the beginners in the sport. Which makes sense. A lot of wrist injuries, shoulder and collar bones broken and dislocations are due to the inexperience in falling down on the pow.

Follow this link for a quick guide on how to fall over and prevent possible injuries

3. TRZY. Snowboarding was actually banned at resorts in the early 1980’s

Kind of hard to believe these days that snowboarding could be banned but back in the day, skiing targetted the older demographic, whereas snowboarding was looked at as being for the youth.

Because of that, it was more dangerous and a “teenage fad”. Needless to say, that is now history. The first resort to open up for snowboarding was Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont in 1983-84 and because of that, this resort is still very popular for snowboarders.

Also was a great move as these days 30%+ of all winter sports revenue comes from snowboarding, which is pretty neat.

4. 四. The most flips ever done on a snowboard in a single jump was 4

That would equate to 360+360+360+360 = 1440

No matter how you look at it, that is amazing.

5. FIMM. Snowboarding became a Winter Olympic sport

“Wow. No shit. Tell me something I don’t know” said pretty much, everyone.

Well, it was first introduced in the 1998 Winter Olympic games in Nagano, Japan.

6. ستة. Interesting Facts about the X-games

Shawn White - Snowboardin Facts
ozy.com

Shaun White won the most x games medals which were the total of 16

The youngest X-Games medal winner was Chloe Kim at the young age of 14

There are six competition venues at the X Games: Slopestyle, Street, Snowmobile, X Course, SuperPipe and Big Air.

2011 marked the most-watched Winter X Games ever, with 114,200 people in attendance and 39.7 million tuning in from home during the four-day event

7. सात. The first Olympic medal for snowboarding almost went up in smoke!

The first Olympic gold medal in snowboarding was won by Ross Rebagliati of Canada. After he won he got temporarily disqualified as he tested positive for marijuana in his blood.

Needless to say, the disqualification got overturned and he smoked a joint after to celebrate his victory.

He literally became an advocate for medicinal marijuana and owns his own medicinal marijuana dispensary these days.

So those are the top 7.4 interesting snowboarding facts that I could find online. If you have any other ones that you think should make the list put them in the comments below. Also, make sure to share this page to let other snowboard enthusiasts learn a thing or two about this bloody amazing sport. It’s super easy, just click the share button below.

Picture this, one shot, you get it you make $75,000 you miss you go home with zero.

If you had one chance to win $75,000 with a simple throw of the ball how would you celebrate after making the shot and winning?

For one lucky man, he had the opportunity to find out exactly how he would celebrate. His throw and celebration have become viral and now everyone is celebrating with him via the internet.

Michael Dysch winning 75000

Michael Drysch is the half shot contestant who was the lucky man who was selected and under all the pressure he definitely did not disappoint and best of all his throw was so casual.

After the shot, he got tackled by no other than James Lebron, which was a win in itself.

Congratulations to Michael Drysch and wishing him best of luck with the 75g’s that he scored from one of the most nerve-racking moments of his life.

One of the things you hear the most when you start out with snowboarding is that you will fall a lot. To tell you the truth you would have to be a superhuman to avoid the inevitable tumble.

With tumbles come injuries and believe it or not the highest amount of injuries are to the wrists, shoulders and collar bones.

Obviously, a good place to start is by getting wrist guards to protect your delicate wrists but an even better way to make sure you don’t hurt yourself more is to follow a simple technique which is against everything you have been brought up with.

The first thing you do when you fall over is put out your hands so that they absorb the impact. That’s something you have done all your life and now you have to somehow convince your subconscious not to do that.

Let me explain. When falling over while snowboarding you to do opposite, you bring your arms in as close to your body as possible and land on your elbows and chest or your butt, depending on which way you fall.

This will protect you from the most common injuries but in turn, you most likely will end up with a few bruises.

I"ll make the snow my bitch when I go snowboarding Next #mendooutdoors #men #snowboarding Click To Tweet

But all hope is not lost, yes the idea of falling chest first into the snow might be scary, but that is just that, it’s snow and snow on most occasions is softer than a plush toy.

Also, you most likely will be wearing a jacket which is also quite soft. If you wear a helmet it will protect the most vital part of your body… Your excellent hairdo (actually your brain but hairdo will also do).

So now that you have this information try and convince your basic instincts to change the way they have operated for years.

A good way to start is to just find a nice soft mound of snow and fall against it a few times, firstly to make you realise that it isn’t actually too bad to fall face first into the snow but also to train yourself from throwing out your hands.

Once you got that all figured out you can get into the more enjoyable part which is snowboarding but also you don’t have to worry as much about the occasional fall.

If you snowboard do you have any hints, or tips that could assist beginners in being more confident with falling over in the snow? If so make sure to comment below and whilst there make sure to like and share this post with others on Facebook or Twitter.

If you are a snowboarding Beginner you need to read this to figure out the best gear for your trip

Do you love snow and want to dabble in snowboarding for the first time but are not sure where to start?

We did the hard yards and asked men who have already gathered some experience in snowboarding to give you tips on the gear you should get for your first trip.

Snowboarding Gear:

Snowboarding gear

From asking around it was obvious that most guys recommended that if you are beginning you should start off with hiring the gear you require. Reason being is that you might fork out a lot of money and in the end not even enjoy the sport. So save the pennies at the start and if everything goes well and you love the sport dive right in.

When hiring a board try and go for the medium to very flexible one as it’ll be more comfortable and easier to start off than with very stiff board (typically more geared towards big air, high speed)

Other things you should consider for hiring would be boots, bindings, helmet and wrist protectors.

Obviously helmet and wrist protectors for safety. You might look like a goof with the wrist guards but trust me you would prefer to wear those then end up with a broken wrist.

With hiring your gear the whole idea is to first get to know your snowboarding style. If you purchase the main components prior to going out you will be stuck learning in one specific way, which in turn could not work for you.

If you are hellbent on buying things then start off with your helmet with pads to keep your ears warm, anti-fog goggles, gloves or mittens, a waterproof jacket and pants with insulations and Faceshield to keep your face warm. Pretty much gear that you could use doing other winter sports as well.

Finally, if you plan on buying the board, boots and bindings then start with second-hand ones, you will bang them up a fair bit before you become a pro. Once you are a pro you want gear that will match your skill level. That is when you can invest in new things

Staying warm:

So obviously a good jacket, pants, helmet, face shield and gloves will keep you warm, but if you still find yourself shivering then make sure to layer up.

Layering up will allow for air to be caught between layers and stay warm, which in turn will keep you cozy.

Some people will say go for thermals but I would strongly recommend against that as snowboarding is a very physical activity and it could cause you to overheat. Best thing is to start a little cold and after a few moments of riding around you will warm up.

Also, make sure to stay hydrated. Most people think that drinking will cool your body but that is incorrect. Your body needs water to function properly, functioning properly also means regulating your body temperature.

Best way to make sure you stay hydrated is to have a camelback with a hose to your mouth. An additional benefit of having a camelback is that it will cushion your fall.

F*&k yeah I"m ready to go snowboarding #snowboarding #snow Click To Tweet

Finally, in conclusion, start off by hiring the gear, once you learn how to snowboard then decide what gear will be best for you. Be prepared to fall and get a few bumps and bruises but also enjoy your time, specially after the boarding is done and you are warming up in a bar with a cold beer in your hand. Ahh the perfect way to finish the day.

What I usually tell people is to rely on your base layer for warmth, and rely on your jacket for water-proofness.

For a base layer I’ve used the underarmor cold weather base layer for years with just a t-shirt over it. It may seem like you’re going to be cold at first (and you may the first trip up to the top) but after one trip down you warm right up. Snowboarding is a lot of exercise.

If you’ve never once gone snowboarding before, rent your boots and board, as if you find that you suck too much for your patience to handle before you get mediocre, then you’ll have avoided the most expensive and non-usable part of the hobby/sport.

For gear, you’re going to want snow pants; an actual boarding jacket; waterproof winter gloves; some sort of face protection (if you don’t have a thick beard, then get a balaclava or facewrap); goggles that are anti-fog (pretty standard, but you should still check that they are in-fact anti-fog. This will be the most expensive thing besides your boots and board); and a decent toque.

There’s quite a few good snowboarding brands, so if you have a dedicated snowboard shop in your town or city, go there. You don’t necessarily need to buy from there if you’re on a budget, but those are the places you want to look.

Konrad Warzecha - Men Do Outdoors

Konrad Warzecha - Men Do Outdoors

Konrad Warzecha

A little about Konrad

My name is Konrad and I am the guy that started Men Do Outdoors. The reason behind it was because I was working as an outdoor instructor and had plenty of skills that I was happy to share with people.

After writing a few posts about outdoor and travel hacks I realised that I as one person was very limited with the amounts of inspirational content I could share with others.

That is why I began approaching other men who are already doing exceptional things outdoors and asking them to share their experiences with everyone. This was in the hope that it would inspire others to jump on board and really explore what this planet has to offer.

So this is how Men Do Outdoors was really born.

Besides the website, I tend to do a bit of everything. I have plenty of qualifications in outdoor sports and always like taking up new things. I am travelling around the world at this point in time and have spent the past year outside of Australia exploring everything that Europe has to offer.

Age:

30

Where were you born?

Sydney, Australia

Where do you live now?

Netherlands

What Outdoor Activity do you do?

Whitewater rafting, mountain biking, snowboarding, scuba diving, camping and any other extreme sport out there.

What inspired you to take up Whitewater rafting, mountain biking, snowboarding, scuba diving, camping and any other extreme sport out there?

I like being active, but more importantly, I love adrenaline. It gives me the kick I seek out on a daily basis. That is why my favourite sports are White water rafting, Scuba diving, Snowboarding, Downhill mountain biking.

So yeah the adrenaline is the main reason I take up outdoor sports

When did you take up Whitewater rafting, mountain biking, snowboarding, scuba diving, camping and any other extreme sport out there?

Been doing outdoor things all my life. Never really focused on just one sport. But if I had the time it would be snowboarding. In that case, I started snowboarding when I was 19

How often do you participate in the activity?

Every time I travel to Europe I hope to get some snow in.

What’s your favourite trick?

I’m not a pro or anything so a simple jump get’s me excited but I hope to do more later in the future

What’s your favourite location and why?

New Zealand, Taupo… A volcano next to a lake, with amazing forests around.

Oh did I mention you snowboard on a Volcano.

What’s your favourite gear?

Again not a pro so I haven’t experienced to many different types of gear.

What’s your biggest achievement?

Teaching my 7-year-old sister how to snowboard was really a great achievement for me.

What’s your most memorable moment?

Picture this. pure white snow everywhere, the sun setting in the distance, I’m on top of the volcano in Taupo and I’m pretty much the only person up there. The silence is numbing and the temperature is not cold but the occasional breeze nips at your cheeks. One of my most unforgettable memories. Really amazing time for me

What are you striving towards in the future?

I really want to do more snowboarding, hang out with people who love it also and learn amazing new tricks

If someone would be interested in doing your sport, what would you recommend they do?

If you want to go snowboarding, then you have to deal with the first couple days, where you will most likely get ruined. Wear wrist guards if you are starting also. Save you from breaking a wrist. Finally just enjoy yourself.

PRAISE BE TO THE STONE - Someone photoshopped climbers out of pictures and the results are amazing

Bouldering is a very challenging sport and even though most times you don’t reach massive heights you are very likely to injure yourself while challenging yourself.

An unfortunate fall could cost you dearly and to many boulderers, the idea of twisted ankles isn’t a new one. That is why there is a need for ‘spotters’. People who can guide your fall in the instance that you do drop.

Someone had the bright Idea of removing the climbers using photoshop and let’s just say the images are hilarious.

Check out the images below and be prepared to smile 🙂

7 Insane Adventure Ideas you can use to make your Life EPIC!!!

So you woke up after a big nights drinking, next to you there is a babe (or a hunk) who you picked up during the night. You check your phone and you have messages from your friends claiming it was the most epic night. You check the photos on your phone and you can definitely confirm that it was the most epic adventure you had in a long time.

These are the moments we live for. Days, nights like this that will forever get brought up in future conversations, that will always put a grin on your face and most importantly get your heart racing each time you think about it.

They usually start with a stupid innocent little idea that evolves into something epic. So to help you with your next major adventure that will not cost a fortune and you don’t necessarily have to drink to make it super fun here is a list of amazing Epic Adventures you can do alone, or with friends.

Meet you there.

With this adventure, you will have to start with a few friends and establish a destination for the day or night. Like a pub down the road… Nah that’s to simple, how about a pub in another state or country. Now most people will think “heyyyy, I’ll just get my car or use public transport” but here is how it becomes an insane adventure. You have no money to spend on your trip.

That is right, zero amounts of money.

By removing the ability to pay for things you will now have to put on your thinking cap and come up with ways to get from A to B.

Best of all this will also build your communication skills with strangers and who knows maybe you will end up with a bigger squad at the end.

Also, another idea is to actually just get the cheapest flight from one place to another using the Ultimate, Super Freaking awesome Flight Hack and then try and get back home without using flights
Epic Adventures

WANTED: Someone ready to go elbows deep into some Epic Adventures with me Click To Tweet

I’m Hungry but I ain’t paying for that

Similar to the first one, you want food but you ain’t got the money. Convince people to either get you food or donate money for your next meal. You could beg, perform or come up with an insanely cool strategy that will make it happen. Just don’t go stealing, it’s really shit.

Epic Adventures

I’m thirsty but I’m also not paying for that

Exactly the same as the previous one, except now you need to get drinks out of people or come up with creative ways to get that next pint into you. Great for meeting new people, getting to know them and making them feel inclined to get you a drink.

Epic Adventures

My new squad
Ever go out at the beginning of a night and by the end you are hanging out with a bunch of people you have never met in your life but at the same time having the best time.

Well recreate this by forcing yourself to meet a minimum of 5 new friends. Talk to them, get their numbers and maybe catch up with them in the future. You will grow your friends base but also unlock the valuable skill of communicating. Great for picking up also.

Epic Adventures

I’m just taking a nap
In the middle of a busy pedestrian area take a moment to yourself and lay down. Something so simple and yet it can be super daunting to do. Try laying there for a minimum of a minute, this will seriously bring up your confidence like nothing else.

Epic Adventures

Compliments for all
Like the name suggests, go out and shower bystanders with compliments, but not any kind of compliments, person specific compliments. For example a cute honey with a nice jacket. Compliment her on her choice of clothing. Great for starting conversations, breaking the ice and also putting a smile on people’s faces.
Epic Adventures

There are so many more, over the following weeks I will post more and more. For now do you have any cool idea’s for epic adventures? Post them in the comments below and don’t forget to share this article with your squad on Facebook or Twitter.
