Less Snow on the Mountains in US means Less time to Shred on the Slopes.

As a massive fan of winter and winter sports, I get worried when I hear that the first frosts are first beginning to appear later and later every year. Less winter means less snowboarding, skiing and snowball fights and just that is a massive reason why we should take climate change into consideration.

It is no surprise to most of us that winters are becoming shorter and shorter, and the amount of snow can sometimes be very disappointing. But did you know that over the past 100 years the first frosts have begun to snip at our toes a whole month later?

Winter sports, Snow coverThis is information that has been gathered from more than a century of measurements from weather stations nationwide. This is a nationwide average, as in some places it has started earlier and in others even

What is worrisome is that trend for later and later frosts has started around 1980 which would indicate that the majority of the first frost beginning later has happened in the past 50 years.

Less Snow = Less Fun Times on the Slopes. #climatechange #snowboarding #skiing #shorterwinters Click To Tweet

Now missing out on snow can be a very disappointing thing, but when you think more into it, there are certain animals and plants that require a certain amount of chill to thrive. Plants such as the Georgia peaches which require the frost to kill off pests before they get a chance to attack them is a prime example.

Scientists have also noticed that many trees aren’t changing colours as vibrantly as they used to because some take cues for when to turn from temperature. As time progresses it could get worse and by that stage, the thought of having a chill session in the snow could be the last thing we think about. Especially if there is no snow to shred in.

So the question is, what should we do to make sure one of the best seasons of the year doesn’t disappear into oblivion? Well, in my opinion, we already know what to do. Be less consumeristic, recycle, plant more trees, use fewer plastics and be more conscious about the foods you eat.

As a single person, it might seem like a pointless task, but it always starts with just one person willing to make a change.

As people we have the ability to slow down, stop and reverse what is happening with the climate change but we need to take the first steps to do so.

If you are a Snow enthusiast comment below if you have noticed the change and make sure to like and share MenDoOutdoors on Facebook to receive more updates like this in the future.

Become a Travel God by Incorporating this flight hack into your next trip and make others Envious of all your travel photos.

This Travel hack can get you to or near your destination and best of all it can be more direct than a normal flight, have a fun stop over and also save you large amounts of cash. Sounds too good to be true?

Well, it’s not and you should definitely use it on your next trip overseas.

So this is the Ultimate, Super Freaking Awesome Travel Hack‘s Big Brother. In the sense of knowing where you want to go, but taking one-way flights to get to your destination.

Now this hack does require a bit of tinkering about and you won’t necessarily end up at the airport that you intended, but one nearby. In saying that who cares if you have stack loads of cash left over from the flights to spend during your holiday right.

Ok, so for this hack you will require Skyscanner and Google Maps open and you should be browsing in an incognito window (Don’t know why you need the Incognito Window? Click here to find out).

In Skyscanner search for flights out of your nearest airports and select a date. Then click the search button. All the best deals will show up for you.

Now open up Google maps and find which cities or airports are on the way to your destination from the list in Skyscanner.

Become a Travel God using this simple travel Hack

for example.

Sydney to New York

You will find cities such as Honolulu, New York, San Francisco and Las Vegas

Once you figure out the cities open up another search in Skyscanner and then use the cities that you found in the last results as starting points and type in a date (preferably a day later).

This will now give you a few new options. Now again open up google maps and find the cities that are either on the way that is cheap or closest to your destination or your actual destination.

again back to the example of Sydney to New York

I found that from Honolulu I could fly to Seatle which was only 3 hours away from New York for quite a cheap price.

Now if you find that you still haven’t reached your destination just search for the flights towards your final destination from the cities that are in between the previous search results and your final airport.

With my example, Sydney to New York I found that a standard one-way flight was around $900 but with this hack, I was able to find flights in the vicinity of $680.

One flight was with Jetstar. Sydney to Honolulu with a 24 hour stop over there. The next one was from Honolulu to Seattle on Delta. Yes there is a stopover and yes it’s not to the final destination but it’s fairly direct and it saves $220 on the flight. Plus you can save on your accommodation using Couchsurfing and in the meantime meet some cool locals.

Well that is is for this hack. If you found this hack useful comment in the comments below as this keep me motivated to write more and as usual make sure to share this page with others and for more posts like this like Men Do Outdoors on Facebook

Become Stealthy like a Ninja and save big when purchasing items online

Ever browse the internet and think someone might be spying on you? Do you view websites that are private and important to you (not porn site’s obviously 🙂 ) such as your bank websites.

Would you like to protect yourself more? If Yes, then read on.

For many years now it has been very obvious that Google can track not only your online presence but also where you are at and even what you are saying thanks to mobile phones. But did you know that every website you check out these days is most likely tracking your activity also?

incognito windowIt became incredibly obvious to me how much information we were giving away each time we went onto a website when I set up an online store.

Using a Facebook pixel I was able to find out when someone was on my site, how long they spent there, where they were browsing from, what computer, phone tablet they were using, how many pages they checked out and where they came from.

And that is not even the worst part. With a simple application, I could find out exactly how many times you revisited the site and change the prices of my products so as to make you want the product more. All of this on autopilot.

Me being a small fish I didn’t even skim the surface of how much information I could gather, but trust me when I say this, big businesses will kill for every tiny bit of information about you.

A perfect example is flight comparison sites. They admittedly tell you that they are putting what the internet calls a cookie on your browser which supposedly is there to make your experience the best you can have.

But get this. It’s not always in your best interest to have a cookie in your browser. The cookie will see how many times you will revisit the website, which flights you are looking for and then also spy on you when you visit another flight site so as to make sure they can compete with the prices.

Once they know that you are interested they can manipulate the prices on the spot.

Ever go to a website, type in the same flight multiple times at different times and just before you click to check out, the website will tell you that the price has changed?

This is a standard technique used between flight comparison site’s to make you feel like you are about to miss out on a great deal. But at the same time, they are making extra dollars when you buy the product.

I was almost caught out with this the other day also. But because I knew of this technique I quickly got the ball back into my side of the court.

You see if they flight comparison site’s don’t have cookies on your browser they can’t really see your activity.

So this is when you become a ninja so as to make sure those websites aren’t ripping you off.

  1. Almost all browser’s these days have a window which is called an Incognito Window. you can find it in the browser settings. An Incognito window will literally be a blank slate for you. When in Incognito you will not collect cookies and you will be logged out of all your pages.

This will mean that you are literally not giving away valuable information to the website’s you are viewing which is great news for you.

  2. I would highly recommend downloading a VPN. A VPN is a Virtual Proxy Network which literally hides all your activity. Everything you view is encrypted and best of all you can use a VPN to use the Hack that not even travel agents know about and pretend you are in a different country. Also, another great benefit is it’s almost impossible for people to hack your computer which is extra safe. I use ExpressVPN as I found it to offer the most for a great price and you can protect multiple devices using the one product.

  3. Also regularly make sure that you clear your cookies as you will be amazed to see how many cookies you collect over time.

So hopefully this is a bit of an eye-opener for you so that you can protect yourself better when browsing the internet and also save money while doing so.

The One Way, Multi City, Return Flight hack that will Save you Money and provide you with Another Holiday

Upgrade your lifestyle by travelling more for less using this simple yet powerful hack.

This Hack I use all the time when booking flights for my family. Due to the simplicity and the ability to break up long flights with a fun stopover.

I’ll call this Hack the One way, Multi City, Return Flight Hack

For a normal person, booking flights goes a bit like this. Go to Kayak, Momondo, skyscanner and select return trip, put in your destination and dates.

Then hit the search button, wait for the price to show up, change dates if the prices are too high.

If the prices remain too high, begin stressing and possibly giving up on the holiday. Sounds familiar? Don’t worry I have been there also.

But due to this hack and the other ones I provided you will soon become a Flight searching Enthusiast. Designing your life around the trips you take and the countries you see.

The Ultimate, Super Freaking Awesome Travel Hack – Flight Hack

The Flight Hack not even Travel agents know about – Flight Hack

People save hundreds of dollars with these hacks and now you will too…. Hold on a minute, sounds like I’m trying to sell something, haha, but I’m not so enjoy the article and let’s get into this hack

The One way, Multi City, Return Flight Hack

So this hack is very helpful for when you want to go away for a holiday. It works similarly to a Return but instead of booking the whole itinerary with one airline, you break it up and use another airline as well.

So to start off you get a budget flight to a major Airport which is along the way to your Final Destination. Once there you book a multicity flight to your holiday destination and all the way back to your starting point.

For example:

Sydney -> Singapore (on a budget airline)

Singapore -> London -> Sydney  (Multicity using one carrier)

The One Way, Multi City, Return Flight HackOne thing you need to make sure of is that you have enough time between the Budget flight and the Multicity flights as you will have to check in again and if you have baggage, claim it and put it on the new plane. I would recommend no less than 5 hours between the flights and just to be sure I would stay a day or two in the city or country that your flights intersect.

This is a great way to break up the long flight and in some instances provides you with another holiday within a holiday.

So why does this work:

  1. You fly into a major Airport (Hub City) where there is more competition between airlines. So to get more sales they lower the prices

  2. You cut out a part of the trip which might be highly booked out. E.g. the seat prices might be more expensive on just one part of the whole trip

  3. You include a low-cost carrier in the overall trip.

Sometimes I found that its best to include the low-cost carrier on the way back:

Sydney -> London -> Singapore (Multicity using one carrier)

Singapore -> Sydney (on a budget airline)

This way you literally end up with an additional holiday where you can rest up. I like to stop in Thailand where it’s super affordable and you can lay on the beach and drink pina coladas.

Things to keep in mind when booking these kinds of flights

  1. always have enough time between the budget and normal airline so as to not miss your flight

  2. If you have checked in Baggage you have to take pick it up when you land at the junction between your 2 flights and check it back in on the new flight.

  3. Check Visa requirements for the country you go to.

  4. Pack some food and water on your budget airline so you don’t have to spend your savings on super overpriced food

Now, this is a really simple technique and can save you hundreds. The most I ever saved was $500. Which went towards my second holiday in Singapore.

You can also use this hack in conjunction with the hack that not even travel agents know about.

So Try it, if you manage to get some savings out of it let me know in the comments below. Also, make sure to share this hack on Facebook so others can enjoy more flights and whilst there like the Mendooutdoors page t get more amazing hacks and content there.

The Travel Hack that not even travel agents know about. -Flight Hack

Want to save up to $200 on your next international flight. With this simple hack, you have a high likelihood that you can. It only takes 2 minutes to set up and it will truly open your eyes up to huge savings on most flights.

This travel hack is extremely simple but most people don’t know about it, that is because airlines don’t want you to know about it.

So I became curious about how airline prices worked after a representative for a company came in and sort of nudged on the topic of different prices depending on which location you are searching from.

I Learnt a Flight Hack that not even Travel Agents know about and it will save me hundreds on… Click To Tweet

Which got me thinking, why?

The simple answer was higher demand in different countries and more competition.

So due to being passionate about computers, it didn’t take me long to test this theory out. Get this, on most flights I was seeing savings of $20 plus.

So the Idea is that you search your flights first normally and get the prices. Just to have a benchmark to work with.

Then browse the same flights from a different country… You heard that right, from a different country.

It doesn’t mean you have to physically go overseas to do that, no you can do it from behind your laptop.

How do you ask?

Well, you can download a Virtual proxy network (VPN). One I like is hola.org because of it being free and really simple to use.Hola.org

Then once it is set up you can select different countries to browse from.

First, f, this is really cool because it hides your online browsing but also at the same time allows you to browse websites as if you were in different countries.

So what I usually do is switch on my VPN so as to look as if I’m browsing from the country I am flying to. E.g. I’m flying to the United States from Australia.

I first check out tickets in Australia

Then I use Hola.org, change my location to the United States and then check the prices again.

In most cases, I have seen approximately $20 up to $200 difference on ticket prices.

One thing to also take into consideration is that Airlines sites leave cookies on your computer, which track your purchasing habits and also flight prices. So as to avoid missleading information either clear your cookies, use a different browser which you haven’t used before to search for flights or use the Incognito Browser which comes with most browsers these days.

So how did you like this Hack? How much did you save on your flights? I would be super happy to hear your success stories in the comments below and as usual share this post with others if you found it valuable and like Men Do Outdoors on Facebook for regular updates on other super cool travel hacks.

Kerið Crater

WHOA hey, ma’ it’s a hole in the ground… all jokes aside, Kerið is actually a very impressive crater and being on the road to Selfoss if you are heading there after a day of doing the Golden Circle it’s the perfect stop to wrap up your day.

Kerið Crater

Kerið is approximately 55 m (180 ft) deep, 170 m (560 ft) wide, and 270 m (890 ft) across with a strikingly vivid aquamarine lake at the bottom.

The lake isn’t very deep, approximately 7-14m deep depending on rain levels. It receives its colour from the minerals in the soil.

If you are interested in visiting the Kerið you will have to pay an admission fee of 400isk. This is used to look after the place and build paths. After certain times you can visit the crater for free as there is no one there to accept your admission fee.

Geysir Hot Springs

One of the only places on earth where thousands of people film 3 min of nothing to get 5 seconds of good footage. The one and only Geysir (I mean Strokkur) in Iceland. One of Iceland’s major attractions.

GeysirSo Iceland is known for its waterfalls. That’s correct, but it also is known for its water which defies gravity and shoots up into the heavens. Boiling water to add to that.

The Geysir is famous around the world, in fact, the word Geysir originates because of this Geysir in particular. With many tourist companies advertising to see the Geysir as part of the Golden Circle Tour most people would be hard-pressed to find out that they aren’t actually going to see the famous Geysir erupt.

Geysir surroundings

This being because it only erupts around 3 times a day. On the other hand, most people will be pleasantly surprised to see Geysir’s little brother Strokkur do its thing on a regular basis. Strokkur

erupts approximately every 3-5 min around the clock. Shooting up into the air as high as 30 meters.

Strokkur erupts approximately every 3-5 min around the clock. Shooting up into the air as high as 30 meters.

In all honesty, though I never saw it shoot more than 10-15 meters high. But with that, it’s still impressive.

The reason why Strokkur erupts when superheated groundwater, confined at depth, becomes hot enough to blast its way to the surface.

One of my favourite activities around Geysir is to Human watch. Reason being is that you will literally witness hundreds of people doing strange poses for minutes on end. At times they miss the Geysir and have to hold the position for another 3-5min

The Geysir is also a great place to stop for lunch or fill up your car. It’s halfway on the Golden Circle tour and even though the food is ridiculously expensive it still is available.

Gullfoss the Golden Waterfalls of Iceland

Gullfoss, One of Iceland’s most popular Waterfalls. Smack bang right in the centre of the Golden Circle and only an hour and a half drive from Reykjavik. If you are planning on going to Iceland you have to see this waterfall.

Gullfoss the Golden Waterfalls of IcelandNow before I go on about Gullfoss I want to make it clear that this is not the biggest, nor the most powerful waterfall in Iceland, but what makes it unique is the Golden glow this waterfall gets during sunsets.

The colour of the water to start off isn’t the clearest but that is exactly what makes Gullfoss, Gullfoss. During the sunset, the light tends to provide the waterfall with a golden shine and in some cases a famous rainbow hovering the waterfall.

The words Gullfoss actually mean Gold and waterfall which is very appropriate for Gullfoss due to… Click To Tweet

Now there are two stories which explain the name behind the waterfall, one of them is its colour. The second on the other, in my opinion, is exciting.

The story goes that back in the day, there was a very rich man. This man was extremely selfish and did not want to part with his possessions after he passed away.

So to make sure that no one was able to get a hold of his gold, he threw it all into the waterfall. After which it received its name.

Now I don’t recommend jumping in to find out if the story is true as there is a 21 m drop and a certain death awaiting anyone who decides to do so.Gullfoss the Golden Waterfalls of Iceland

The waterfall is 32m tall taking into consideration its 2 drops, it also has a very impressive 140 m3/s average flow (this is 140000L of water passing a spot every second)

Best time to see it is at sunset, as then you get the golden shine and in many cases the rainbow over the waterfall.

Þingvellir National Park

Ever hear of a place called Iceland? If yes then you probably also know about Þingvellir National Park. One of Iceland’s biggest attractions and there is a reason for it.

Þingvellir National Park

Þingvellir is a national park positioned smack bang next to one of the cleanest lakes I have personally ever seen. The water is crystal clear and in the distance, you can see mountains which

makes for some incredible photo opportunities.

Seeing as Iceland is known for being quite baren when it comes to trees, this place will give you a bit of a shock. The place is covered with foliage. In saying that it will make you understand the national joke.

If you ever get lost in a forest in Iceland, Just stand up Click To Tweet

The trees are mostly head high which makes it possible to see far into the distance.

Þingvellir is famous for the snorkelling spot Silfra which is a rift formed in the divergent tectonic boundary between the North American and Eurasian plates.

Þingvellir National ParkWhich means that with just one step you can be either on the European tectonic plate or the American one. Or if you decide to brave the freezing cold water you can snorkel right in between the two.

Þingvellir is also known for being Iceland’s Althing which is the national Parliament. Assemblies were held there from the 930 AD to as recently as1798.

Þingvellir National Park

I heard from a local that back in time the assemblies were held next to the waterfall and if someone was being judged and found guilty, then they would be punished by being drowned in the waters nearby. Obviously, they didn’t get drowned for everything. Just the major crimes.

Þingvellir is a paid attraction, as in you pay for parking and then you can leave your car and hike around. It’s beautiful and you could definitely spend an hour here, If you decide to snorkel, make sure to book ahead as it is quite a popular attraction.

Have you been to Þingvellir, or are you planning on going there? Let me know in the comments below and if you found this article helpful make sure to share it.

Smoke on Water

So as you drive through Iceland you will come across many places that have steam rising above the ground. And to tell you the truth, this place isn’t much different. There’s hot water, there’s steam, the thing that set’s this place apart though is the surrounding. Which in my opinion is good enough to allow for a quick stopover.

Smoke on WaterWhat might seem like a fairly normal spot is actually really impressive, on one side of the road you have lava fields covered by moss, on the other a hot river which disappears underground.

In the background, you have a hot water plant, steam everywhere and mountains hugging the clouds.

The river itself isn’t anything special. in fact, if it didn’t have steam rising above it you probably would never even consider stopping Smoke on Wateralong the road here.

But something I discovered here due to my curiosity is that right beside the pool of water is a small canyon.

Yes, there are many canyons in Iceland and compared to those ones this one can be quite boring, still, when walking along it you will be amazed by the incredible Flora inside.

I mean it’s a completely different ecosystem inside. This is due to the ground being warm enough all year round to allow for plants like ferns and different types of moss to thrive in here.

Additionally, there are a few caves in the distance and a few hikes, but I wasn’t curious enough to do those.

Hrunalaug - The small and cosy Natural Hot Springs everyone is searching for

If you have been researching Iceland or are already there then you probably know that most hot pools in Iceland are either a huge hike away or cost money. In some instances, you really just want to pull up in the car, stumble a few steps and pop into a hot pool and enjoy yourself. This is where Hrunalaug comes in.

HrunalaugJust of the Golden Circle and part of my complete Golden Circle tour you can come across these really cute hot pools.

Hrunalaug used to be a sheep washing station but it seems these days the sheep no longer hang out around this area which is excellent news for travellers that need a good soaking.

You can easily fit 10-15 people in these pools which makes for a really nice and social atmosphere. In many instances, people have brought a few drinks here and chilled out in the hot pools. If you do decide to bring alcohol make sure to clean up after yourself.

The water temperature, in my opinion, ranges from 46C (115F) to 40C (105F) which is the perfect temperature if you are thinking of sitting around in the water for a while. Best of all if you feel like you are overheating, just pop out for a minute or two and lay on the grass which surrounds the pools.

There is a place to get changed, it’s in the little hut, but be aware that there is a little pool in there as well and in some cases, it’s occupied.

On nights when there are no clouds, there is a possibility you could also have an incredible northern lights show which seriously would be the cherry on Hrunalaugtop of the cake.

The hot pools are free but there is a donations box, and recently they have been renovated, making them really beautiful and cosy.

If you do decide to take the plunge in these pools make sure you drive to Hruni, once you see a church drive past it 400m on the right will be a turn-off. Take it and then drive another 400m. You will come across a parking area with a no pooping sign. You have arrived. Now just hike for a minute and enjoy.

If you have experienced these amazing pools, let me know of your experience in the comments below, and also share this article.

Echo Point

This place took me by surprise, I stopped here for the view but stayed here for the Echo. The way I found out about this place was when I came here I heard a sheep in the distance and me being me, I decided to make some wild noises. After that, I realised what a magical place this really is and have taken many friends here to enjoy the incredible echo that this place creates.

Echo PointOh lets also not forget about the incredible views that this place has. Situated above Pingvallatan lake halfway up a cliff. In the distance, you can see little rock Iceland that during cloudy weather seem like they are floating above the surface of the lake. Perfect spot for a drone.

You will know when you are at the right place when you see a cattle grid across the road. Pull up and enjoy the view and make as much noise as possible. Seriously though the echo is incredible and one of my favourite spots on Konrad’s Golden Circle

Santa Cruz asks Danny MacAskill to test their new Carbon Fibre Wheels to their LIMIT!!!

Not much to say except check out the video below with Danny MacAskill laying out a ton of punishment on these new Santa Cruz Reserve Carbon Wheels.

Santa Cruz is launching a new bike wheel made completely out of carbon fibre and as any sane company out there, they asked a pro Trials cyclist, Danny MacAskill to test out their product to its limits.

Let’s just say Danny had no problem with this request.

As displayed in the video he really doesn’t hold back and it’s actually incredible to see how much punishment the new wheels can take.

This video is perfect proof that Carbon Fibre is far from weaker or brittle than the next best wheels which are made out of aluminium. In fact, it blows that whole myth out of the water.

Imagine the new possibilities, with lighter bikes which are stronger, cyclists will be able to really push their limits to new heights. As with every advancement in technology in the extreme sports sectors we are definitely looking forward to some new footage from doing just that, pushing their limits.

The only thing I can imagine these days stopping people from investing in these tyres is the actual price as they retail around the $1500 USD mark.

For those that have an endless wallet check out the full rundown on these wheels.

— 29-inch wheels in three internal widths: 25, 27 and 30 millimetres

— 27.5-inch wheels in 27 and 30 millimetres

Vans to release their first ever snowboarding movie LANDLINE

You heard that correct, Vans, the popular American manufacturer of skateboarding shoes is about to release their first ever snowboarding film and we are super excited to see what they have created.

Vans Snowboarding MovieSnowboarding as an extreme sport has enjoyed countless movies based on it over the years. The thrill of watching snowboarders shredding the mountains, weaving in between trees and testing the limits of what is humanly possible has always attracted large amounts of people to the movies.

With a big company such as Vans, it is bound to do the same, especially considering that this will be their debut into the already oversaturated market of snowboarding movies. They will definitely want to show what they are capable of doing.

The Film LANDLINE is a result of 2 years worth of filming with the Vans snowboarding team in exotic locations such as Russia, Canada and Bulgaria. The team is made up of Jake Kuzyk, Sam Taxwood, Cole Nacin, Arthur Longon, Pat Moore, and others.

Check out the Trailer Below:

Tanner Pedleton’s inspiration for the movie is very simple. Make a movie that provides endless amounts of inspiration. A movie that will reach the youth.

“Snowboarding films have always provided me with endless amounts of inspiration. I want this film to reach out to kids out there the same way these films reached me when I was young. This collaborative vision is a true expression of some of the most real and dedicated people in snowboarding.”

LANDLINE will come out in January 2018. Are you excited to check it out when it gets released? What are some of your favourite Snowboarding movies? If you have any link them up in the comments below and as always don’t forget to share this article and like Men Do Outdoors on facebook to get regular updates.

Little Canada

When I drive by this point I always think to myself… Am I still in Iceland. Picture this, a beautiful lake, pine trees, an abandoned house and a road that hugs the lake. This is why I decided to call it Little Canada, and if you drive past here you probably will also think the same.

Little Canada

It truly is a breathtaking spot and fantastic for pictures, lunch and rock skimming across the lake. The beach along the road is formed by millions of perfectly round and smooth rocks that are just begging to be skimmed across the top of the lake.

Every time I get to this point I practice my skimming, it’s really relaxing and makes me realise how beautiful Iceland really is. So far my record is 19 bounces on the surface of the water.

Also right next to the road there is fresh water flowing so if you are parched after a decent slogging session with the rocks and need a quick drink you will come across this little creek that runs under the road. You can also fill up your water bottles here.

I find this place to be perfect to visit when the clouds are low, as the reflection on the water is absolutely stunning. Also, the water itself is crystal clear and the rocks below the surface make for some incredible pictures.

Drone footage and Downhill Mountain biking seems like the perfect marriage

Ever wondered what it might look like chasing after someone riding downhill on their mountain bike from a drone’s perspective?

Well, you don’t have to wonder anymore as someone has done it.Drone and mountain biking

Having an extreme sport such as downhill mountain biking where there is a lot of weaving between tree’s, jumps and constant crash hazards seemed like the last place for a drone. But thanks to a few crazy souls who were happy to brave the potential destruction of their drone we now have proof that it is possible.
And let"s just say, the angle is amazing. Click To Tweet

Using a small Lux v2 racing quadcopter drone you get the first person view of chasing after a mountain biker at high speed. The biker performs some jumps which with the addition of slow motion makes the video really outstanding.

At one point the drone does hit the dirt but doesn’t seemed fazed at all from the bump and continues the chase.

All credit definitely goes to the drone pilot in this one as just the thought of having to keep up with the biker makes me quite nervous. Especially considering that I have already lost a drone and crashed it multiple times.

So I guess the question is, if people are now able to fly drone’s in such confined spaces, what will the future of drone footage look like taking into account future technology advancements.

All I can think of is that we are definitely coming into an age where everyone will be able to take breathtaking footage no matter where they are. That actually has me pumped.

If you are a drone pilot and have similar footage we would be super excited to check it out. You can leave a message in the comments below and while you’re there don’t forget to like mendooutdoors on facebook and share this article.

The Ultimate Camping Checklist is back and it"s here to stay

Ok ok ok, so I created this Camping checklist a while back and got some really good feedback on it. Unfortunately one day I accidentally deleted it from my website. Let’s just say, that was a really hard day for me. I slaved hours on this camping checklist, to make it the best one possible, used people’s feedback and fixed it up and bam in a flash it was gone. Needless to say, it is back and this time I’m not going to make the same mistake twice.

Ultimate Camping ChecklistWith the camping Checklist that I created, you are able to individually select the items you and up to 4 friends have to take to your next camp. Best of all it sends each one of your friends and email with a list of things that they need to buy and also your phone details (that’s if you want to provide them with it).

You can find the list in the top navigation bar.

Also, I really am passionate about making this checklist even better, so if you have any suggestions let me know and I will try and include them into a future patch.

Hope this makes your next camping trip an easier experience for you and your friends and a more enjoyable one as well.

The list is completely free to use and with that, you can use it as many times as you would like. But in exchange make sure to like MenDoOutdoors on Facebook and share this checklist if you like it.

Speed Climbing to be part of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Imagine this, you’re standing at the bottom of a 15min wall, a small beep signals the start of the race, 7 seconds later it’s all over and you either go on to vs another competitor or go home.

That is the world of speed climbing and it has just been introduced as one of five new Olympic sports in Tokyo 2020. With a total of 20 men and 20 female athletes which will grace the worlds biggest stadium, we are sure to enjoy some nail-biting competition.

Each competition taking less than 7 seconds, it is considered the fastest Olympic Sport. With the fastest time so far held by Iranian speed climber Reza Alipourshenazandifar who reached the top of the wall in 5.48 seconds.

During 2016 Speed climbing World Championships Marcin Dzienski from Poland took out the top honour with a time of 5.83 and Anna Tsyganova from Russia (7.52 seconds).

The wall itself is a standardized wall, which is 15m high, slightly overhanging with identical holds with a difficulty rating of F6b. This is a level that most recreational climbers could complete. Also, it’s a top belay system.

To complete a run up the wall you either can manually time yourself or strike a switch at the top.

Church on the Lake (Úlfljótsvatnskirkja)

Let’s face it, no matter where you go in Iceland you are bound to get pleasantly surprised with what it has to offer in terms of natural beauty or even the mixture of both man-made and natural. Úlfljótsvatnskirkja is definitely a combination of the two.

Church on Lake (Úlfljótsvatnskirkja)This picturesque church which is positioned right on a lake, which in turn also has a backdrop of mountains is nothing short of inspiring. Best of all it is stunning at any point during the day. Be it early morning with the sunrise creeping over the mountains in the back, during the day when the clouds settle over the lake or at dusk when the warm light from the sun lights up the church. This will definitely make a memorable experience for you.

It’s not a very popular attraction but in saying that it can be part of the Golden Circle Tour as it fits perfectly just outside of Selfoss on the way to Pinvellir.

I can’t imagine this being a stop you would take more than 5 minutes to enjoy, but in saying that drone shots are really awesome from here.
